7-12 Mini Grant
Mini grants will be available for teams of instructors (at least one academic and one vocational), teaching grades 7-12, for materials, supplies, planning time and small equipment (not to exceed 50% of the budget). To qualify for a grant, the applications must be completed and handed in to the consortium (not the superintendent) by the deadlines given below. Projects must be completed during the 2006-2007 school year with all follow-up information to the SBEC office by May 18, 2007.
PLEASE MAKE ALL PROJECTS RELEVANT TO A CAREER AND CONNECTED TO A BUSINESS. Show students that the skills used in the project will be used in a career field or many career fields. Tying business participation to your project is important. Examples:
School-Business Educational Consortium (SBEC) will provide mini-grants to the certified 7 – 12 staff of Axtell/Bern, Nemaha Valley, Marysville, Centralia/Frankfort, and Valley Heights schools to promote innovative contextual (hands-on) team projects. The program is developed to provide an incentive for staff to develop and/or share effective ideas toward helping students learn how to apply curriculum to real life careers. For the 200 6-2007 school year collaborative applications from groups of teachers should not exceed $1,000.00. Funding will be distributed for materials, supplies, planning time and small equipment (not to exceed 50% the total amount) for hands-on projects.Grants will be awarded on a merit basis as determined by the School-Business Consortium Steering Committee. See the scoring rubric.
At the conclusion of the project,
grant recipients will be expected to report the findings and effectiveness to
the SBEC Steering Committee, district administrators, and school boards.
Successful projects will also be shared with other district employees and
consortium members that would potentially gain from the information.
To be considered for an
award, the grant application must be completed in full prior to submittal.
Incomplete grants will not be considered.
Grant applications are to be submitted to your principal and
superintendents office for prior approval.
Applicants may consult with the superintendent prior to submittal to
ascertain completeness, compliance, and appropriateness. |
